Message From the President
On February 5, I left for Indonesia, Cambodia, India, the Philippines, and Myanmar. I would not return until March 26. I would not see my dear wife, Mindy, until March 12. I would be thirty five days without her. In the past, I have counted the days, thinking, “2 more weeks and then, I’ll be headed home.” Don’t get me wrong. I really enjoyed the trips. But I found myself constantly looking ahead. As I arrived in Singapore, I began reflecting upon the last 18 years. It seemed that each year went by faster than the previous year. I don’t know about you, but I find myself always looking into the future.
In Matthew 6:25-34, Jesus taught His disciples about the right perspective on life. He instructed them not to worry about what they would eat or what they would wear. Since God takes care of all the animals and flowers, He will also take care of us. He cares for each of us more than He does the animals and the flowers. Then in 6:34, Jesus said, “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”
As I reflected upon this, I realized that I needed to concentrate on today and the opportunities the Lord had given me that day. As I look back now on my last trip, the Lord gave me great joy every day in ministry. I focused on encouraging and discipling the people I was with. I focused on equipping the pastors and church leaders who attending our seminars. I focused on equipping our local board of trustees in each country. God gave me incredible joy and fulfillment of purpose when I changed my focus. This doesn’t mean that we should not plan for the future. We should do that. But in our busy lives, we can sometimes lose our joy or sense of purpose by focusing on tomorrow or the weekend instead of today. Let me encourage you to live in the present, to walk in the Spirit one step at a time, and to rejoice in what God is doing right now. God will fill you heart with great joy and fulfillment as you do so.
Grace and peace,
Dr. David Nelson

Testimony from a BTCP student:
“Learning and then practicing discipleship showed me how much I have learned over the entire course and that I can apply it in my walk. I also became aware of how much I have matured as a Christian since book one. This course has given me such a firm foundation to build on. The contribution of additional information by our teacher added immensely to the course material.”
