A Call for Faith and Community Support
Typhoon Yagi recently struck the northern provinces of Vietnam, causing devastating damage far beyond initial predictions. It unleashed heavy rains and landslides, obliterating a village overnight that is predominantly home to Christians. Many bodies remain unrecovered. According to government reports, the damage from Typhoon Yagi amounts to 81,500 billion VND, with 344 people dead or missing, 5.6 million poultry lost, hundreds of thousands of homes damaged, and hundreds of thousands of hectares of rice and crops destroyed.
Many Christians are facing significant challenges to their faith and understanding of God. As a Christian educational organization, our response has been insufficient, and church education has not adequately addressed the reality that natural disasters are part of the world God created, and their occurrence does not reflect a lack of divine love or power of God. We have reached out to comfort God’s people, reminding them that challenges can be opportunities for their faith to grow stronger.
