When my son started elementary school, I accompanied him in almost all subjects. I taught him everything, from literature and science to sports. To my son, I was the father who knew everything. When he entered middle school, partly due to not having enough time to keep up with the curriculum, I realized I could no longer teach him. If my son continues to study hard in a few years, he will surpass me in many ways. Perhaps he is only inferior to me in terms of life experience and judgment.
I imagine discipleship to be a bit like parenting as both involve guiding, nurturing, and shaping individuals to grow in faith, character, and purpose.
