From the President: Growth & Graduations in Central America

This year, we set our focus on multiplication, based on Acts 6:7. By equipping believers with Bible knowledge and ministry skills, by empowering them to lead and serve effectively, and by evangelizing with the gospel, we can indeed see multiplication in equipped leaders and church growth, just as it was seen in the early church in Jerusalem.

This month, I would like to share about our ministry in Central America and how God is opening opportunities for equipping leaders. Its total population is 54 million, with Guatemala being the most populated country with 18 million people.

There are seven unreached people groups in Central America: Spanish-speaking Jews in Guatemala (Guatemala, Costa Rica, and Panama), Muslim Sindhi people (originally from India), Muslim Turks, and Buddhist Japanese. Among so-called “Christian” peoples, the Keche are the least Evangelical. Most Spanish-speaking peoples of each country are primarily Catholic, with some animistic beliefs. About 70% of the people in Central America are Roman Catholic, and 19% percent are Protestant. In addition to unreached people groups, gang and drug violence often affect churches and communities, particularly impacting young men and boys. Read More.
