September ended with Keith participating in a Men’s night at the Family of God church, where many of our students attend church. A few of those students were in attendance, and we had a great time eating pizza, playing games, and fellowshipping with each other. Keith had the opportunity to teach some of the younger men a game called battleship (the card game). Keith and Jenny also celebrated their 23rd wedding anniversary on the 6th of this month.
Jenny and her good friend Linda, the wife of one of Keith’s first students and teacher, Saul, and now a student herself, resumed baking classes since the “snowbirds” are returning to Mexico. The items in the picture are called Bu̱uelos. They are a crispy, fritter-like dessert topped with powdered sugar or cinnamon and sugar. Bu̱uelos are a popular Christmas treat in Mexico, often made with family and friends. Jenny is doing life with many of our female students, and she helps Linda by translating her instructions for those who need help understanding Spanish.
