India: Paul’s Prayer for the Advance of the Gospel

The Apostle Paul was not only a tireless missionary but also a devoted man of prayer. His ministry success was rooted not in strategy or strength, but in his dependence on God. Through his prayers, we see the heart of a man whose deepest desire was for the gospel to advance and lives to be transformed.

Paul prayed for open doors (Colossians 4:3–4), trusting God to create opportunities for the message of Christ to go forth. He prayed for boldness and clarity (Ephesians 6:19–20), asking for courage to proclaim the gospel fearlessly and clearly. His burden for the lost moved him to pray earnestly for their salvation (Romans 10:1). He longed for the rapid spread of the gospel (2 Thessalonians 3:1), that the Word of God would run swiftly and be glorified.
