Laos: Perfect Love Drives Out Fear

Last month, we had the privilege of meeting a pastor who has faithfully served among the Hmong and Khmu tribes. His testimony is a powerful reminder of what it means to walk in the confidence of God’s love, even in the face of persecution.

He shared that he has been arrested five times because of his faith in Christ. During his most recent imprisonment, which lasted longer than the others, he experienced something remarkable. On the very first day, as he was led into the prison, he walked past other inmates with a smile on his face, quietly singing. His demeanor stood in stark contrast to the fear and heaviness that filled the room.

Within a few days, other prisoners approached him, puzzled by his boldness. They said, “We thought you must be a dangerous criminal. You came in smiling and singing. Why are you not afraid? Why are you not worried? Do you think you are greater than the jailor? They could punish or even kill you.”
