Recently, I came across a YouTube video that compared the teachings of Jesus and the Buddha, particularly their perspectives on how people should live and respond to others’ needs. One statement in the video caught my attention. Jesus taught His followers not to seek greatness through being served by others, but through serving others.
The verse above reveals something fundamental about Jesus’ life and mission. Jesus did not come into the world demanding that people serve Him. Although He is the Son of God, He chose the position of a servant. He demonstrated His greatness through humility, love, sacrifice, and service.
Therefore, for followers of Jesus, Christian leadership is not primarily about position, authority, recognition, or having others serve us. True leadership begins with a willingness to serve. We are called to humble ourselves, care for others, meet their needs, and love them sacrificially. Read the Full Update
