Nepal: Blossom from the Rock

Nepal was once the world’s only officially Hindu kingdom. Although the nation became a secular republic in 2008, Hinduism continues to shape much of the country’s culture and society. For generations, Christians in Nepal have faced misunderstanding, social opposition, and legal challenges related to sharing their faith. In many communities, believers are viewed with suspicion and are sometimes falsely accused of using material promises or false expectations to influence conversions.

In recent years, pressure on Christians and ministry activities has increased in some areas. Just last month, reports indicated that 36 churches were destroyed, 25 missionaries were arrested and deported, and dozens of local believers and ministry leaders faced arrest, threats, or mistreatment. Many Christian children experience bullying in school simply because of their faith or because they come from Christian families. In addition, receiving ministry support from outside the country has become increasingly difficult due to government regulations and lengthy approval processes.

Yet even in the midst of these challenges, God continues to work powerfully in Nepal. The Church is growing, and the number of believers continues to increase. Even in remote mountain villages and rural communities, people are faithfully following Christ and sharing the hope of the gospel.
